"The green Danube" - A Program of the WWF Protection and Revitalization of the Vein of Europe

Like no other current, the Danube River  stamps that cultivations in the middle and eastern of Europe. 80 Million persons will be live on and with this river. As a life vein of manifold ocology systems and biospheres the Danube River does connect  so different zones as well as the Alps with the Pussta and the Danube Delta.
   
 
   A destruction of the Danube River means at the same time the destruction of the important ecological network in Europe with hundreds of tributaries and valuable damp zones. The Danube River is that ecological heart blows of Europe, an extraordinary living space for people and nature as well.    Today the Danube River is more jeopardized then ever. In front of massive interventions into the nature and buildings as well, through that every day soiling of the water, through the progressive destruction more old forrests, through the loss of that for the quality of the Danube River decisive natural river dynamics.
"The green Danube" is a program of the WWF to the rescue and for the protection of the large European current. It is not too late yet.

Up-to-date: At 30.01.2000 100.000 qm Cyanid-lye, with heavy metals transfers, were out of a burst catch basin in the northwest of Rumania. The rivers Somes, Theiss and finally the Danube River are on a total stretch of 440 miles with blue acid salt and heavy metals verse respect. "More than  100 tons exhausted fish" would be got become out of the waters now, reports the WWF in Gland/Switzerland.
In the mean time the environment catastrophe expanded itself to Yugoslavia. The poison lye reached now Belgrade. Suburbs are without drinking water .
In January 2002 the sales ban from the Danube River was removed to a large extent. After new investigations most fish types might be marketed again, indicated the govenment of Bavaria at 22.01.2002.
