The World-famous Natural and Cultural Sites on the Lower Danube included in the List of UNESCO |
| The first project by WWF in
Bulgaria was the restoration of oaks on Vardim island, and in Romania
was the restoration on the Danube Delta islands Chernovka and Babina.
The biological reservation "Danube Delta" is
one of the best preserved deltas among the great river mouths of Europe
and with confidence the most impressionable natural wonder in Europe. |
Projects of WWF (World Wildlife Fund for Nature) include the programs "Danube-Carpathian Program" and the "Green Danube", whose main goals are the restoration of wetlands and floodplain forests along the river which for centuries has been refuge to dozens of species of birds. Frescoes from "Sirkvata" near the village Ivanovo show supreme achievement in wall painting from the end of 14th century. This site is found on the territory of Russenski Lom Natural Park. |
