Das "Donauknie"
Wohl auf keiner Landkarte ist das "Donauknie" verzeichnet - und doch gibt es diese romantische Gegend zwischen Esztergom und Budapest in Ungarn. Wie ein gebeugter Arm wendet sich die Donau fast im rechten Winkel nach Süden, wo sie bei Esztergom auf Gebirge stösst. Diese Enge steht seit tausend Jahren unter dem Schutz von Burgen. Der schmale Uferstreifen zwischen den beiden Seiten steil emporragender Bergen bietet eine Fülle historischer Zeugnisse von der Römerzeit bis zum 20. Jahrhundert.
Dieser 50 bis 60 km lange Abschnitt des rechten Donauufers war das Herz des Königreiches Ungarn.

Well, no map shows the "Donauknie" - and yet it will be indicates this romantic area between Esztergom and Budapest in Hungary. Like a bended arm the Danube turns itself almost in the right angle southern, where it goes on mountains near Esztergom. Since thousand years this narrow placed  under the protection of castles. The narrow mountains steeply looming bank strip between both pages an abundance of historic thing wetness offers from the Roman Time to the 20th Century.
Along this 30 to 40 miles section of the right Danube bank was the heart of the kingdom Hungary .

  Die Ausgrabungen von Aquincum,
der grössten Stadt der römischen Provinz Pannonia, kamen Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts zutage. Die Ausgrabungen dauern bis heute an. Das Ruinenfeld war im 2. Jahrhundert eine Stadt mit 30.000 Einwohnern. Südlich davon schliesst sich das Amphitheater an sowie das Militärlager und die Festung. Davon ist heute nur noch wenig erhalten geblieben.

  The Excavation of Aquincum
at the end of the 18th Century the largest city of the Roman province Pannonia cames to the light. The excavation will be done until today. In the 2nd Century the ruin field was a city with 30.000 inhabitants. Southern the amphitheater connects as well as the military warehouse and the fort. Today only yet few is be preserved therefrom.

  Die historische Gedenkstätte von Mohács
erinnert an das Schlachtfeld, auf dem König Ludwig II. 1526 von den Türken geschlagen wurde. Diese Gedenkstätte ist ein grosses Rondell in parkartiger Landschaft mit vielen hölzernen Grabpfählen, die von mehreren Künstlern zu den Jahrestagen der Schlacht (29. August) geschaffen wurden.

  The Historic Commemorative Site of Mohács
reminds of the battlefield, on witch King Ludwig II. in the year 1526 was been struck by the Trakya. This commemorative site is a large round in a park good landscape with some wooden grave stakes, created from several artists to that anniversaries of the battle (29. August).
