Das Lonjsko Polje
Der Naturpark Lonjsko Polje liegt im Südwesten der pannonischen Tiefebene in Kroatien. Er ist eines der größten und am besten erhaltenen Feuchtbiotope Europas entlang der Save, einem Nebenfluss der Donau.  Das Gebiet mit einer Fläche von 50.600 Hektar wurde 1998 als Naturpark unter Schutz gestellt. Der Naturpark besteht aus Eichenwäldern und einer großen Artenvielfalt an Vögeln, besonders Störchen. Die Ortschaft Cigoc wurde 1994 zum "europäioschen Storchendorf" gekürt. 

 

  Lonjsko Polje
The nature park Lonjsko Polje is placed in the southwest of the Pannonische Tiefebene in Croatia. It is one of the largest and the best received damp biotope in Europe behind the Save, a tributary of the Danube. This area with a surface of 50600 hectarers was placed 1988 as a nature park. The nature park consists of coak forests and a large diversity of species at birds, particularly storks. The locality Cigoc was placed to the "European Stork Village" in 1994.

  Der Kopacki rit
Der 17.000 Hektar umfassende Naturpark Kopacki rit liegt im Nordosten der pannonischen Tiefebene in Kroatien an der Mündung der Drau in die Donau. Die unberührten Sumpfe, Moor- und Auengebiete sind Heimstätte zahlreicher Tier- und Pflanzenarten. Die zahlreichen Seitenarme der Donau sind für ihren Fischreichtum bekannt und bilden den Lebensraum für 40 Fischarten. Der Kopacki rit ist für die Liste der UNESCO-Naturerben nominiert.

Der Kopacki rit ist ein trinationaler Naturpark: 

  • im Norden der ungarische Teil als Duna-Drau-Nationalpark
  • im Südosten der serbische Teil als Naturschutzgebiet mit der Donau
  • im Südwesten der Zuflussbereich der Drau in Kroatien.

 

  Kopacki rit 
The 17000 hectares comprehensive nature park Kopacki rit is placed in the northeast of the Pannonische Tiefebene in Croatia behind the delta of the Drau into the Danube. Unaffected sump and moorland are homestead of numerous animal and plant types. The arms of the Danube river are effected for fish (40 different types of fish). The Kopacki rit is nominated for the list of the UNESCO Naturerben. 

The Kopacki rit is a trinational nature park:

  • in the northern the Hungarian part as a Duna-Drau national park
  • in southeast the Serbian part as protected area with the Danube
  • in southwest the supply range of the Drau in Croatia.

  Vukovar 
Vukovar mit rund 31.000 Einwohnern liegt im Nordosten Kroatiens an der Grenze zu Serbien. Diese Region war das am stärksten umkämpfte Gebiet während des Jugoslawienkrieges von 1991 bis 1995. Bei der serbischen Belagerung und der Schlacht um Vukovar wurde die Stadt weitgehend zerstört. Bis zu 8.000 Granaten schlugen täglich ein, insgesamt sechs Millionen Geschosse. Die Ruinen sind heute noch sichtbar. Die Belagerung der Stadt dauerte 87 Tage. 

Bis zum Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges waren manche Orte um Vukovar zum Teil deutsch besiedelt (Donauschwaben). In diesen Orten haben sich später vorwiegend Serben angesiedelt. Die Stadt wird von ethnischer Separation beherrscht. Auch wenn es keine geographische Abgrenzung zwischen serbischen und kroatischen Stadtteilen gibt, so kommen die Einwohner im täglichen Leben doch nur wenig miteinander in Berührung.  

 

  Vukovar 
Vukovar with approx. 31000 inhabitants is placed in the northeast of Croatia at the border to Serbia. This region was most strongly contested area during the Yugoslavia war from 1991 to 1995. With the Serbian siege and the battle arround Vukovar the city was destroyed to a larg extent. Up to 8000 shells hit daily, altogether six million projectiles. The ruins are today still visible. The siege of the city was 87 days. 

Up to the end of the Second World War it was partially German settled some places around Vukovar (Donauschwaben). In this places predominantly Serbs settled later. The city is controlled of ethnical separation. Even if these is no geographical demarcation between Serbian and Croatian quarters the inhabitants will be get together minimally.
